Streets of Qazvin

I visited Qazvin, Iran in October 2016. Qazvin is located 150 km (93 mi) northwest of Tehran, in the Qazvin Province. My bus ride from Tehran took about 2 hours. I stayed at the Alborz hotel which is within the walking distance of major historic sites. The city was a former capital of the Persian Empire under Safavids dynasty. It is a provincial capital today that has been an important cultural center throughout history.

Archeological findings in the Qazvin plain reveal urban agricultural settlements for at least nine millennia. Qazvin geographically connects Tehran, Isfahan, and the Persian Gulf to the Caspian Sea and Asia Minor, hence its strategic location throughout the ages. Click HERE to view video clips of this trip.
