Baku is the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan, as well as the largest city on the Caspian Sea and of the Caucasus region, with a population of 2,374,000.
I flew from Istanbul to Baku on June 18, 2018. Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport is very clean and organized. I had previously obtained my entry visa through the online Azerbaijan E-Visa for $23. The passport control was a breeze and took less than 5 minutes. I bought a sim card at the airport and took the airport bus to city center. Baku is a modern and clean city with no traffic jams. The city center is walkable and easy to navigate. I stayed at the Grand Hotel which is in the city center and a short walk from the Nezami metro station.
