I visited Ankara in November 2023. Ankara, the heart of Turkiye and its Capital is a city that seamlessly blends the rich tapestry of history with the vibrancy of modernity.
Nestled in the Anatolian region, Ankara is a testament to Turkiye’s historical significance. The city’s roots trace back to the Bronze Age, evolving through the hands of Phrygians, Hittites, and Persians. However, it wasn’t until the establishment of the Republic of Turkiye in 1923 that Ankara rose to prominence as the nation’s capital. The iconic Ataturk Mausoleum, perched atop Anittepe Hill, pays homage to the founding father, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, symbolizing the city’s pivotal role in shaping modern Turkiye.
